E-Broadcast

Broadcasting is the distribution of audio and/or video signals which transmit programs to an audience. The audience may be the general public or a relatively large sub-audience, such as children or young adults.

This programme provides the students hand-on practice on digital video production and exposed them to the creative process involved in researching and telling a compelling story through video.

The project themes selected shall include multi-disciplinary integration e.g. with English Language, Mother Tongue, National Heritage etc

The course comprises the following learning objectives.

  • Developing scripts, learning about layout, planning and drafting and varying written English in degrees of formality according to audience.
  • Read-throughs of the script / dialogue.
  • Working in groups to plan, rehearse and performa drama exploring the different ways to convey action and character
  • Speaking with their peers, adult supervisors and in character for a wider audience, adapting their speech and use of language appropriately.
  • Analyzing their own and others’ contributions as the process evolves and after completion.
  • Preparing interesting clips by interviewing people and asking questions to gain information.
  • Discussing the language of film-making. [I.e. Cut aways. Camera Angles, ‘Action’ ]
  • Discussing the role of team work in the film-making process.
  • Working in groups to take on different roles.

E-MTV

Music television has revolutionized the music industry. Established by the MTV network's popularity with youthful viewers, it has now become a leading promoter of new music

In line with MOE’s policy of bringing learning out of the classroom, as well as to make the experience of learning language more enriching, we would like to provide a basic introduction to Producing Music Videos.

This programme aims to enhance their self – esteem and self confidence through actual experience working as a team “behind the scenes’ and in front of the camera.

This course would teach students skills to understand Music Video Presentation Styles. It will also teach the basic techniques of being a presenter, actor, director, producer etc from presentation skills to marketing their products. Practical hands-on lessons will focus on participants forming a team to produce an MTV show independently.

Language will be the centre of focus as the students will be required to write out scripts and maintain running logs through out the program. Students will be eventually exposed to a brief methodology on developing short screenplays from ideas and concepts.

All songs and music used in this production will be original as it will be specially composed for each school project. Dance steps will be choreographed to suit the different age group of the students

These Music Videos could be used to enhance and add a new dimension to subjects like Physical Education, Health Education etc.

 

E-RADIO

Radio and television have been used widely as educational tools since the 1920s and the 1950s, respectively.

General educational programming consists of a broad range of programme types - news programs, documentary programs, quiz shows, educational cartoons, etc. - that afford non-formal educational opportunities for all types of learners.

Students will learn to cultivate the radio deejay skills that enable them to man a professional grade radio station - to conduct ‘live’ broadcasts, read news articles, conduct radio interviews, air pre-recorded broadcasts or broadcast radio jingles over the airwaves for their radio programmes.

Students will be introduced to the basics of being a radio deejay, and get to know the various equipment and software required. They will also utilize their language skills to prepare DJ scripts, interviews or news stories.

Objectives:

  • To learn how to operate state-of-the-art digital and computer equipment, developing important skills in this modern-day IT economy.
  • To test the students’ ability to present themselves well as newscasters, or to think on their feet during broadcast programmes, encouraging them to be creative with their responses!
  • To develop the language skills of students, through the writing of scripts and original lyrics for the songs.
  • To provide an avenue for students to practice and hone their communication skills in a series of fun and engaging activities
  • To build up students’ leadership skills since students have to initiate projects and communicate their ideas to each other.
  • To learn how to work together for project works

E-Dubbing

Dubbing (film, advertisement) is the process of recording or replacing voices for a motion picture

Voice Dubbing,  or doing voice overs brings out one’s ability to play different voice roles from background first voice, dubbing for cartoon films, muppet or puppet animation or advertisements containing variations of voices The voice needs to be trained enough to modulate and variate.

Students will be introduced to the basics of dubbing and relevance in current media industry.  They will also get to know the various equipment and software required.  They will utilize their language skills to prepare scripts.

Students will learn the skills of dubbing a video clip with a written script.  The scripts shall include multi-disciplinary integration e.g. with English Language, Mother Tongue,etc

Students will learn to have the command over their language. Moreover students will be exposed to the various speaking techniques with regards to pronunciation, diction, clarity, grammar and the diction.

As students learn the skills of Voice Dubbing , not only  are they required to be fluent in the language but also versatile enough to match their inflection, lip sync, tone & pauses to synchronize with the gestures and body language of the character in the original soundtrack or visuals.
